It’s hard to believe that time is flying so quickly, but it’s time to think about convention! This year we’re heading to Los Angeles and this is one you won’t want to miss! Please make plans now to join us March 24-28, 2010.

One of the largest benefits you’ll receive as a member of CNBAM is the opportunity to attend our annual convention. Attended by students and advisers alike, our 4-day spring convention is a great opportunity to share ideas, learn new techniques and network with your peers. You’ll learn and discuss issues facing college newspapers, share tips & hints to increase revenue, and have the opportunity to attend sessions led by newspaper professionals and seasoned advisers. Registration is $175 per person and can be paid via credit card or check. Click here to register

Best of all, you’ll come away with practical ideas that you can take back to your paper and implement right away. If you’re looking for ways to increase your revenue or motivate a sales staff, CNBAM convention should not be missed!

We are staying at the Hilton Universal City for $185 (single-quad) per night, plus tax. The hotel is just across the street from Universal Studios.

Universal’s CityWalk offers something for everyone with 30 restaurants such as Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, Hard Rock Café, Ben and Jerry’s, Starbucks, 32 stores, and nightspots including Howl at the Moon, Jon Lovitz Comedy Club and Rumba Room. There is also indoor skydiving, Jillian’s Hi-Life Lanes (bowling) and concerts and movies each day. There is no entrance fee at CityWalk but some clubs may charge a fee.

You may find better airline deals if you book early. It is most convenient to fly into the Burbank airport. American Airlines is offering a five-percent discount March 21-31, 2010 for those wanting to go early or stay late and do some exploring. Enter code 6330AG online at www.aa.com. You can get their best rate by booking online.

For those who are a little closer, the train may be another affordable option. Amtrak has a stop at the Burbank airport. No matter your preferred mode of transportation, the Burbank airport is six miles (15 minutes by car) from the hotel.

The hotel recommends Super Shuttle for your transportation from the airport to the hotel. It is $12 each way, per person. You may email your travel schedule to Dora Villeda at the Hilton Hotel and she can schedule the shuttle for you in advance.
